The event is going to take the form of a cocktail party. Hors d'oeuvres and (non-alcholic) cocktails will be passed all evening. Of course, we have to display our catering skills. After all, that's one of the services that s.s.c has to offer. There are so many other things to be done as far as preparations go. We've been trying to get all the things together that we'll need to make the bath/beauty products that we haven't even purchased any decorations yet.
We're also trying to get a brochure together on what sweet.savvy.chic is all about, so those in attendance can have something to read about and share with friends.
One aspect of the evening that I'm looking forward to is the beauty demonstrations. Guests will get a chance to sample our products, and decide whether or not they want to purchase anything.
Oh I just can't wait! It's going to be a lot of fun!

Upon invitation to Tammy's Bridal Shower, I thought it would be great for Sweet.Savvy.Chic to make a nice bath/body gift basket as the gift I would take to the shower. So, I spoke to Kaye and she agreed that it'd be a great idea, plus it would to get our business a little more known.
So here's the basket after we completed it (2 ½ hours before we were supposed to be at the shower.. talk about "double-time"):
And here's a picture of it all nicely wrapped:
(Did you see that ribbon, please don't ask how long it took us to tie it just so.)
I decided to call it the "I Love Me" basket, because as a new wife and working woman, there'll be many demands for T to do and she should remember to take some time for herself.
Included in the basket was:
1-Mocha Delight Body Bar and Body Scrub
1-Berry Passion Body Bar and Body Scrub
1-Lemon-Mint Mini Manicure Hand Scrub
1-Magnolia scented candle
1-Mini Manicure set
Also included was a cute bridal shower card sweet.savvy.chic filled out and stuffed it in there along with one of our business cards.
I really hope Tammy likes it! What was very cool is that ours was the only gift basket at the shower!! I was happy because I know usually brides get so many gift baskets especially bath sets, but not this time! :-)
Here is the guest of honor holding up the Sweet.Savvy.Chic originial:
Sweet.Savvy.Chic is on the way to the top!!! :-)
Have a blessed day!

Included with the venue is:
all the staff we need, French white glove service for the seated dinner, valet parking, bridal suite, linens, tableware & silverware and drinks for the cocktail hour and reception.
Notice anything missing??
This venue is giving us a great deal because including everything mentioned above, we're paying $25/person! We figure we will save more if we bring in food from another source. So, we'll see how accurate we were with that.
Our major thing now is finding a caterer that can feed the crowd all through the night for $5000, and getting our budget in order.

I read this article earlier this evening on www.igniteyourfaith.com and it really spoke to me. For one, I felt kinda sympathetic for the guy and two it reminded me I have to be careful of the words I speak. Read it and leave a comment letting me know what you think of it.
The day I destroyed Phil with just a few words.
By Christy Heitger
My stomach dropped when I saw Phil* walking toward me in the cafeteria.
"Please tell me he's not coming to talk to me," I whispered to my friends Lena and Alyssa.
"No such luck," Lena replied. "In fact, he looks like he's on a mission."
That's what worried me. The winter formal was three weeks away and rumor had it that Phil wanted to ask me out. With thick black glasses, hyperactive sweat glands, a bad case of chin acne, and the tendency to use the word "cool" a few hundred times a day, Phil wasn't exactly the man of my dreams.
"Hi, Christy," he said, his voice cracking as he uttered the first syllable of my name.
"Hey," I mumbled.
"Uhhh, I was just wondering if you'd like to go to the winter dance with me. I think it would be cool," Phil said as beads of sweat formed at his temples.
My friends couldn't stop giggling.
"So, what do you say, Christy?" Alyssa said with a smirk. "Does Philly here need to go buy you a cool corsage?"
It's true that I didn't have a date yet, and I did want to attend the dance, but if I went with Phil my friends would tease me to no end.
"Not interested," I said flatly as I looked at Phil's glistening forehead and dotted, bumpy red chin. "I'd rather go alone than be seen with you."
The moment the words fell from my lips, I could feel how harsh they were. "Oh-oh-OK. Cool," Phil said softly. "Well, I guess I'll see ya around."
With his head down and shoulders slumped, Phil slouched away to a table on the opposite end of the cafeteria.
I watched him sitting alone, staring out into space. Here was a guy who had probably spent the morning working up the nerve to ask me out, and with just a few words, I'd crushed his spirit.
I knew God wanted me to treat others with compassion and kindness. But instead, what had I done? I'd blurted out something hurtful.
I looked across the cafeteria. Even from a distance, I could see a sadness in Phil's eyes.
I felt absolutely horrible, knowing that I was the cause of that sadness.
I knew exactly what I had to do, so I took a deep breath and asked God for the courage to go up to Phil and apologize. As I approached Phil's table, my stomach knotted up.
What if I say something stupid and make a fool out of myself? I worried. Or what if the words come out wrong and I end up making things worse?
When I reached Phil's table, all I could utter was a soft, "Hey."
"Hey," he echoed just as quietly.
I fidgeted with the shiny zipper hanging from my backpack as I tried to find the right words—any words. My mouth was dry and my palms were sweaty. I couldn't help thinking that this was probably how Phil felt when he approached me.
The awkward silence was excruciating. Finally, I couldn't take it any longer.
"I was rude to you," I blurted out. "So rude. And for no good reason. I'm sorry."
I glanced up at Phil, but he was quiet. Clearly, he wasn't in much of a talking mood. He kind of nodded, and I grabbed my backpack and went back to my friends.
My actions that day reminded me just how powerful my words are. They can either build people up or tear them down. As Proverbs 18:21 says, they can bring life or death—and the choice is mine. I made the wrong choice that day. I let my friends influence me way too much. I was afraid of being teased, so I lashed out at Phil. But there's really no excuse for the way I acted. That afternoon, I promised myself and God that I'd always do my best to use my words in a positive way.As for Phil, it's funny the way life works out sometimes. A few months after I'd said those mean things, Phil became my lab partner in science class. To my surprise, it was an awesome partnership. Luckily, he wasn't the kind of guy to hold a grudge. He treated me with a great deal of respect—just as I should have given him right from the start. In the end, our friendship turned out to be pretty … cool.

So, here's what's been going on so far with Terri's semi-DIY wedding plans.
The date is set. ::cue trumpets:: JUNE 2010!! The date has been set for a while, but I don't think I mentioned it before. I'm not posting the day yet, because I want to leave you with a hint of surprise.
We found a venue. Yes we did, and we love it! Especially because they're within our budget (a budget we still haven't set yet) and they're allowing us to bring in our own caterers and vendors! How cool is that! Once Terri puts down the deposit, I'll mention more about this place.
But here's what we're looking at so far...
Wedding Colors: Coral and Hot Pink
Bridal Party: 8 Bridesmaids (including 2 Maids of Honor) and 8 Groomsmen (of course, with 2 Best Men). It's hasn't yet been decided on who the flowers girls and ring bearer will be yet.
Officiant: Bride's father. Yes, he is a licensed minster of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, he's my pastor! The great thing about having him officiate the ceremony is that it saves us a bit of change; and with him being her father, it makes the ceremony more heartfelt and personal.
However, I don't know how we're going to work it out with him being up there and not walking her down the aisle. Maybe he can just walk with her down the aisle then take his position?? (Any suggestions on this idea would be well appreciated!)
That's about it for now. Oh, earlier today I started an inspiration board on www.weddingwire.com and maybe I'll be able to complete it tonight and post it soon.
And I'll try my best to be more regular with my blogging ;-)
God bless you!!

Not because I'm usually alone or whatever. I just find it so pointless, and over promoted.
But i've been obsessing about these yummy treats from Martha Stewart Living.
They make the perfect dessert addition to any 'V-day' meals for your S.O or even just for yourself.
I definitely plan on making some for myself... Count on it.
[i don't like brownies but i'd eat 80 of these]
Pecan Linzer Cookies with Cherry Filling
Meringue Heart Ice-Cream Sandwiches
There are about 36 total desserts and such on the website...dedicated to Valentine's Day.
Click this link to check them out... along with the accompanied recipes.

Alloy.com is having an end of season clearance sale. But it's not what you think.
Usually, clearance sales are just a ploy to get rid of the ugly nasty products that people, rightly-so, decided against purchasing. But this sale actually has products...specifically SHOES!!! which the average lady would actually want to be seen in. Check these out.
wear it up or folded down; 3 1/4 heel
So if you can spare a few bucks, and you're feeling that
shopping itch. Treat yourself without having to walk to
work since can't afford gas.
Stay on the look out for tons of deals.
These stores and businesses are eager for sales.

So along with this new year are some changes here at sweet.savvy.chic. To begin with, my dear friend Anna-Kaye (who I mentioned in the blog #2) and I have decided to use "sweet.savvy.chic." as the name for our event planning business! I'm so excited that we finally have a name for our company. We are new starting out in the party planning industry, and we are quite aware that it isn't as easy as it looks on t.v., but we are two very determined young women who have panache, style, and can work on pretty much ANY budget!
Also, Kaye will be joining me as co-blogger here on the site. Since we are business partners, might as well we work together in every aspect, right? :-) So look out for her future blogs!
I gotta get back to studying now... (striving to be an R.N. one day, remember?)
