Valentine's Lovers and Haters

So i'm the kind of person who really could careless about Valentine's Day.
Not because I'm usually alone or whatever. I just find it so pointless, and over promoted.
But i've been obsessing about these yummy treats from Martha Stewart Living.
They make the perfect dessert addition to any 'V-day' meals for your S.O or even just for yourself.
I definitely plan on making some for myself... Count on it.

Brownie Heart Cupcakes
[i don't like brownies but i'd eat 80 of these]

Pecan Linzer Cookies with Cherry Filling

Meringue Heart Ice-Cream Sandwiches

There are about 36 total desserts and such on the website...dedicated to Valentine's Day.
Click this link to check them out... along with the accompanied recipes.

How Great Is Our God!

I am just in awe at the magnificence of my God. He is so AMAZING! I just finished watching this series of video on Youtube (actually I saw it on www.nofearyear.com, but they got it from www.youtube.com) called How Great Is Our God. It's from the Chris Tomlin "How Great Is Our God Tour" and I am left in awe. Please watch every video clip listed below (it's split into five parts) and leave a comment below to let me know how God spoke to you through this minister of His Gospel, Louie Giglio.

(I hope you don't mind having to copy & paste.)

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_82lZ2PpYQE
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwrFILPaFWQ
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjL4SZyc5Ko
Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btyacVmGszA
Part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXgiTUfFhLI

Watching those videos really blessed me... to my soul. It really made me look within and want to humble myself before God. I hope it blesses you as it blessed me.

Happy New Year!

Before you say anything, yes-- I am aware that we are 2½ weeks into the new year and I am just wishing you a "happy" one; but better late than never, right? ;-)
Myspace Comments

So along with this new year are some changes here at sweet.savvy.chic. To begin with, my dear friend Anna-Kaye (who I mentioned in the blog #2) and I have decided to use "sweet.savvy.chic." as the name for our event planning business! I'm so excited that we finally have a name for our company. We are new starting out in the party planning industry, and we are quite aware that it isn't as easy as it looks on t.v., but we are two very determined young women who have panache, style, and can work on pretty much ANY budget!
Also, Kaye will be joining me as co-blogger here on the site. Since we are business partners, might as well we work together in every aspect, right? :-) So look out for her future blogs!

I gotta get back to studying now... (striving to be an R.N. one day, remember?)

xoxo

My First Engagement Party

Okay, so it's not my engagement party. For the past month I (with the help of one of my besties, Anna-Kaye) have been planning an Engagement Party for another one of my best friends forever, Terri.
On November 23rd, 2008 Terri's fiance got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. The day after, Terri called me and asked me to get to work with planning an Engagement Party. I just knew I'd need Kaye's help. She's got great style and having an extra brain to come up with ideas would be so helpful!
Making a long story short, all our planning came to an end on Saturday, December 27th -- the date of the Engagement Party. I must say all of our planning was worth it. In addition to being the party planner, I also catered a bit [I made the Fried Chicken (entree) and Cake Truffles (party favors)], was the makeup artist for the Bride-to-Be, annnnd I was the Master (or Mistress?) of Ceremony. It made me so happy to see everyone enjoy themselves and have such a wonderful time. Especially the almost-newlyweds. :-)
I'm going to try and post some more pics of us setting up for the party and some "during the party" pics. In the meantime, enjoy the ones posted below.

~Sarah-Lois

The colors for the evening were Hot Pink & Silver with Turquoise accents. All decorations were done on a $50.00 budget. The first two pics are of the Sweetheart Table and the latter two are of a couple of guest tables already decorated.

So it begins...

Hello world wide web! My name is Sarah-Lois and I've decided to create this blog for every woman who is uber-girly at heart and as an outlet for me to write about things that are of interest to me. I don't have much to say now... but I'm sure I'll get better at this blogging thing.
